Anticipatory Response by Islamic Relief against Cyclone Remal

As cyclone Remal brews in the Bay of Bengal, it is forecasted to hit Bangladesh and West Bengal today, May 26th. Islamic Relief, acting as the first anticipatory responder, has provided essential food packs to 320 vulnerable families in the Ramjannagar Union of Shymnagar sub-district. Each food pack includes 5 kg of flattened rice, 1 kg of sugar, 2 kg of puffed rice, 15 packets of high calories energy biscuits, and 6 liters of mineral water serving as crucial emergency supplies ahead of the cyclone.

Additionally, Islamic Relief is actively raising awareness in the coastal communities of Khulna, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Cox’s Bazar, Barguna, Barisal, Bhola, and Patuakhali where they have presence. Despite adverse weather conditions, staff members are on the ground, diligently informing residents about the impending cyclone. To address immediate needs, Islamic Relief has also distributed cash assistance of BDT 5000 to 65 vulnerable families in Shyamnagar.
