Heavy rainfall and water from upstream triggered flash floods, inundating major parts of the Sylhet and Sunamganj districts. The flood situation in Sylhet has worsened due to continuous heavy rainfall and the subsequent influx of water from upstream. As a result, low-lying areas in these districts are already submerged.
As a first responder, Islamic Relief distributed dry food to those impacted by the flash floods in Chatak under Sunamganj district on June 23. The food packs included 5 kg of flattened rice, 2 kg of puffed rice, 1 kg of sugar, 15 packs of fortified biscuits, and 6 liters of mineral water. Additionally, Islamic Relief provided hygiene kits to 750 beneficiaries in Companiganj and Sylhet City Corporation, which included sanitary napkins, laundry soap, washing soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, a pack of oral saline, a bucket, and a mug. These 750 families also received a cash grant of BDT 6000 to repair their homes and for immediate assistance
