Sharmin Ruba has been working in Islamic Relief as Manager-External Relations & Communications. As a Manager-External Relations & Communications, her responsibilities are included Communication & Advocacy issues.

Sharmin joined from the American Alumni Association (AAA) where she worked as the Executive Director. Completing her bachelor’s and master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Dhaka, she started her career with BBC Dhaka office as an interpreter and office administrator.

Later she worked in ANZ Grindlays and Standard Chartered Bank for 15 years in different positions. Her last position in Standard Chartered Bank was Associate Director where she used to manage the local corporate clients. She worked as the Country Office Manager in Christian Aid and Head of Partnership and Collaboration with Humanitarian Leadership Academy. In her latter role, Sharmin developed, planned and supported the implementation of the organisational strategy as well as led the marketing and communication strategy.
