The Sustainable Livelihoods for Rural Women through Micro-Entrepreneurship Development (SEED) project helps vulnerable rural women as they work towards stable livelihoods and greater resilience. It focuses on practical skills, small‑scale enterprise development, and better access to essential services and opportunities.
By supporting women to develop environmentally friendly micro‑enterprises, the project creates safer pathways out of poverty. The project equips households with the tools they need to earn a reliable income, strengthen food security, and participate more confidently in local markets.
Working closely with women entrepreneur groups and community partners, the project encourages savings, provides start‑up support, and offers interest‑free revolving loans managed at the grassroots level. Training on income‑generating activities, business management, and rights and protection helps women build confidence, strengthen decision‑making, and advocate for themselves and their families.
SEED builds on strong evidence from earlier phases in Kurigram and Rangpur, where thousands of women gained new skills, expanded their small businesses, and improved their household income. These successes showed that when women have access to resources, knowledge, and supportive networks, long‑term change becomes possible.
The project aims to ensure that women and their families can meet their basic needs today while preparing for a more secure, dignified, and hopeful future.
